# Docs Lookup
Always consult the cached docs before:
- Answering "how do I X with Buttondown" questions
- Constructing API requests (endpoint, payload shape, auth header)
- Recommending CLI invocations
## Steps

If `$DOCS_DIR` is missing or stale (>14 days since `docs_last_refresh` in config.json), run `refresh-docs` first.
Search with `grep -ril <keyword> "$DOCS_DIR"`, then Read the most relevant files. Cite file paths in answers so the user can verify.
If the docs do not cover the topic, say so explicitly rather than improvising — and consider whether the upstream docs need a doc-bug report.From danielrosehill/Claude-Buttondown-Mgmt-Plugin, MIT.
