# Manage PowerPoint Charts

Use PowerPoint MCP to add new charts or update the data of existing charts.

## Chart types

- Column / bar — comparisons across categories
- Line — trends over time
- Pie — proportions of a whole
- Other types exposed by the MCP server

## Process

1. Identify the target slide.
2. Choose the chart type that fits the data's story.
3. Provide categories, series names, and series values.
4. Configure title, legend, axis titles, and data labels.
5. For existing charts, update the categories and series data in place.
6. Save the presentation.
7. Verify the result.

## Guidelines

- Pick the chart type based on intent: comparison, trend, or proportion.
- Keep the number of series small enough to stay readable.
- Add axis titles and a legend when they aid understanding.
- Prefer charts over long tables or paragraphs for numeric data.

## Examples

"Add a column chart of monthly active users to slide 4."

"Update the revenue chart on slide 3 with the new quarterly figures."
