# Export
The store is far too large to pull through in-session tool calls — the export runs as a script that fetches everything and writes the file directly:

```
Report its output: the count and filename on success (`mem0-export-<cwd basename>-<date>.md` in the working directory). If the script warns that it hit the `MEM0_LIST_LIMIT` cap, relay that loudly — the export is incomplete until the limit is raised and the script re-run. If it fails, point at the likely cause: `MEM0_MCP_URL` unset, bad token, or an unreachable endpoint.
The format round-trips through the `import` skill: one front-matter block (`id`, `created_at`, `type`, `source`, `project`, `branch` — whatever the record has) per memory, followed by its text.From pjope/mem0-selfhosted-hooks, MIT.
