AI SEO for Coaches and Creators

The short answer

Coaches and creators get recommended by ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews when AI can see a clear niche, checkable credentials and real client evidence. Publish a page that names who you coach and for what, state your training with a verification link, share testimonials you can document, and put videos on their own watch pages. Never promise results. 1

  • Google asks for no special optimisation for AI features: pages must be indexed and snippet-eligible. 1
  • A narrow niche beats a broad claim. Buyer prompts name a role, such as senior product managers.
  • Credentials are voluntary in many markets, so a verifiable one such as an ICF level helps. Check your own jurisdiction. 5
  • Testimonials and results claims have legal duties. The FTC rule on reviews took effect on 21 October 2024. 3
  • We have no published coaching results. What transfers is the method, proven on local commerce and a personal brand. 9

How do people use AI to find a coach?

We found no reliable study of how buyers use ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews to choose a coach. Evidence is thin, so be wary of claims that AI now drives coaching sales.

The general pattern is clear enough. In Pew's analysis of 900 US adults in March 2025, people clicked a traditional result in 8% of visits to pages with an AI summary and 15% without one. 8 If a buyer asks for 'the best career coach for senior product managers' and reads only the summary, your name has to be in it.

Coaching is a trust purchase. Buyers want to know who you help, how you work, what training you have and what past clients say. Each of those needs its own page.

Why it matters in Coaches and creators
  • Buyers ask AI for a named coach in a specific niche, so a clear niche page matters.
  • Clicks fall when an AI summary appears: 8% against 15% in one US study. 8
  • Trust decides the sale, and credentials and testimonials are checkable. 5
  • Video and outside mentions correlate with AI visibility. 10

What could search and AI enquiries be worth to your coaching practice?

Enter your own numbers to see how visits become discovery calls, signed clients and first-package revenue each month, and what is left after your time and tool costs.

Form fills, calls and emails, as a share of visits.

What this adds up to

About 4.5 customers a month and $10,800 in revenue. After a monthly cost of $250, that leaves $10,550.

How it is worked out

  • Enquiries = visits × enquiry rate.
  • Customers = enquiries × close rate.
  • Revenue = customers × average customer value.
  • Revenue minus cost = revenue − monthly cost.
  • Return multiple = revenue ÷ monthly cost.
  • Visits to break even = monthly cost ÷ revenue per visit. Revenue per visit = enquiry rate × close rate × customer value.

Why does a narrow niche help you get named?

Buyer prompts are specific. A prompt such as 'best career coach for senior product managers' contains a service, a role and a seniority level. A page titled 'Career coaching' matches none of those, while a page titled 'Career coaching for senior product managers' matches all three.

In an Ahrefs study of 1.4 million ChatGPT prompts, cited pages had titles closer to the prompt than uncited ones: 0.602 against 0.484 on its similarity scale. 6 That is a correlation, but it supports writing page titles in the buyer's own words.

A niche does not shrink your market. It makes you the obvious answer for one question, and you can add niches over time with one page each.

How should you present coaching credentials?

State them exactly and link to a place that verifies them. The International Coaching Federation lists three credential levels: ACC needs 60 or more education hours and 100 or more coaching hours, PCC needs 125 and 500, and MCC needs 200 and 2,500 and a PCC. 5 ICF also offers a verify-a-coach link. 5

Say which body awarded your credential, which level, and when. If you are not credentialed, say what you trained in and your real experience. Do not imply a licence you do not hold.

Google asks whether authorship is clear and whether content shows first-hand knowledge, and it calls false credentials deception. 2 An About page with a real biography, linked proof and your photo does more than a list of badges.

What are the rules on testimonials and results claims?

The FTC reviews rule took effect on 21 October 2024. It bars fake or false reviews and testimonials, reviews bought or incentivised to express a particular sentiment, insider reviews without disclosure, and review suppression. 3 The FTC says a business that posts testimonials on its own site disseminates them and can be liable if they are false. 3

The FTC's endorsement guidance adds that if one client's results are exceptional, you must clearly disclose the results people generally can expect. 4 So 'Anna doubled her salary' needs context, not a small-print disclaimer.

Practical steps: get written permission, keep the client's words unedited, record the date and context, and describe typical outcomes honestly. We do not give legal advice. Check the rules in your country.

How should creators publish video so AI and Google can use it?

Give each video its own page. Google says a watch page's main purpose is to show one video, and blog or product pages with embedded video generally do not count. 7 Each watch page needs a unique title and description, and the video must be visible and indexable. 7

Add VideoObject markup that matches the real video, and use Clip or timestamps for key moments. 7 Write a short text summary on the page, so a reader or an assistant can quote the answer without watching.

YouTube may matter beyond the platform. Ahrefs found YouTube mentions had the strongest correlation with AI visibility in its 75,000-brand study, as a correlation only. 10 Our guide on optimising YouTube for AI Overviews has the steps.

How do you measure whether AI search is bringing clients?

Save six buyer prompts for your niche. Run each three times on two AI engines every month, and note whether you are named and how you are described. Search Console includes AI feature clicks in the Web search type. 1

Ask every new enquiry how they found you, with an AI assistant option. For a one-person practice, a few enquiries matter, so judge over quarters. We do not guarantee citations, enquiries or client outcomes.

What have Chalk Labs and Rahil Jain done for coaches and creators?

We have not published results for coaches or creators. Do not read this guide as proof of client wins.

What transfers is the method: query research, answer pages, technical readiness and measurement. It was proven on a local trophy shop in Bengaluru, which reached 27,300 Google clicks in 16 months, and on a new personal site that Chalk Labs reports ranked first for one narrow phrase within a month. 9 Both are Chalk Labs' own work, and the second is self-reported. A coach sells trust, so expect to adapt the method.

Your first 90 days

Days 31-60

  • Publish the niche page, an About page with proof, and a how-I-coach page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a coaching certification to be recommended by AI?

No rule says so, and we found no evidence that AI requires one. A verifiable credential is still a useful trust signal, and you can link to a directory that confirms it. 5 If you have none, show your training and experience honestly instead of implying a licence.

Can I show a client's results on my website?

Yes, with written consent and honest context. The FTC says testimonials on your own site can create liability if they are false. 3 If a result is exceptional, clearly disclose what clients generally can expect. 4 Never edit a quote to say more than the client said.

Should I put my videos on my site or leave them on YouTube?

Do both. Google wants a dedicated watch page for each video on your own site, with a unique title and description. 7 Keep the YouTube upload too, since YouTube mentions correlated with AI visibility in an Ahrefs study. 10

How specific should my niche be?

Specific enough that a buyer's prompt matches your page title. Cited pages in one ChatGPT study had titles closer to the prompt. 6 Start with one niche you can prove, such as one role at one seniority, then add pages as you gain evidence.

How long does it take to get recommended?

Nobody can say for your practice, and we do not guarantee any citation or enquiry. Chalk Labs reports its personal-brand case ranked first for a narrow phrase within a month. 9 Our larger local case took 16 months, so plan in months.
