AI SEO in Singapore: How to Get Recommended by ChatGPT and Google AI
To be recommended by ChatGPT and Google AI search in Singapore, publish English answer pages that state price ranges, scope and proof, and let OAI-SearchBot and Googlebot read them. Keep your company details identical across your site and listings, add other languages only where buyers use them, and follow the PDPA and Do Not Call rules on every form and message.
- Microsoft puts Singapore second in the world for generative AI use: 64.3% of people aged 15 to 64 in June 2026.
- English is the most common home language, at 48.3% in the 2020 census, so English-first pages cover most buyers.
- Google gave 92.16% of Singapore's search referrals in September 2026, with Bing at 4.53%.
- The PDPA allows fines up to 10% of Singapore turnover for larger firms, and the Do Not Call rules cover marketing messages.
- Chalk Labs has no published Singapore client result. Its only regional proof is Meru Trophy in Bengaluru, India.
How do people in Singapore find businesses with search and AI?
Singapore is among the most AI-active markets, so many buyers there are likely to meet an AI answer during research. No public data shows how often. DataReportal counted 5.78 million internet users in October 2025, a 98.4% penetration rate, and 9.79 million mobile connections, which is 166% of the population 2.
Google supplied 92.16% of search referrals in September 2026, Bing 4.53%, DuckDuckGo 1.08% and Yahoo 0.97% 1.
Microsoft's AI Economy Institute ranks Singapore second in the world: 64.3% of people aged 15 to 64 had used a generative AI product by June 2026, up from 63.4% in March 3. Only the UAE, at 73.3%, is higher, and the worldwide figure is 18.8% 3.

| Google share of search referrals (September 2026) | 92.16%; Bing 4.53%; DuckDuckGo 1.08%1 |

Microsoft ranks Singapore second worldwide, with 64.3% of people aged 15 to 64 using a generative AI product by June 2026, against 18.8% worldwide 3. It counts any such product, not ChatGPT alone.
Why does Singapore suit answer-first pages?
In the e-Conomy SEA 2025 survey by Google, Temasek and Bain, saving time on research and comparisons was the most common motivation for using or paying for AI features in Singapore, at 45% 4. The survey covered 7,200 consumers across ASEAN-10, and the report does not state the Singapore sub-sample, so treat the figure as a hint, not a measurement 4.
The same report values Singapore's digital economy at about US$29 billion in 2025, and says the country drew US$1.31 billion of private AI funding, 55% of the ASEAN-10 total 4. It also found 89% of Singapore respondents willing to share data access with AI agents, while 52% had privacy concerns about agentic AI 4.
The practical point: a buyer who delegates comparison to an AI wants pages that already compare. Publish the price range, scope, timeline and proof on one page, in plain text.
Which languages should your Singapore pages use?
Write in English first and add Mandarin, Malay or Tamil only for services where those buyers are real. Singapore has four official languages, and the 2020 census found English the most common home language at 48.3%, then Mandarin at 29.9%, Malay at 9.2% and Tamil at 2.5% 5. Other Chinese varieties made up 8.7% 5.
Singlish is not a census category. A 2018 Institute of Policy Studies study found 8% of Singaporeans call it their main language 5. Buyers may type Singlish phrases into a search box, but write your pages in standard English. Where you add a second language, give it its own URL and link the versions with hreflang, which Google says must point both ways or it is ignored 8.
Google lists Singapore among AI Overviews locations, with English, Malay and other languages on the supported list 6. The list does not map languages to countries, so test your own prompts in each language.
| Language | Share of residents | Publish when |
|---|---|---|
| English | 48.3% | Always. This is your default |
| Mandarin | 29.9% | Your service targets Chinese-speaking consumers or SMEs |
| Malay | 9.2% | Your service has Malay-speaking customers, such as community or family services |
| Tamil | 2.5% | Rarely, unless your buyers ask for it |
What should B2B companies in Singapore publish first?
Publish the pages a buyer would paste into a shortlist: pricing, comparisons, scope and proof. A Singapore B2B buyer who asks an AI for the best provider is asking it to build that shortlist, and the model can only quote what is written down.
Start with five pages: a plain pricing or price-range page, one comparison against your main alternative, one page per service with who it suits and who it does not, a case study with named numbers you can prove, and a page on how you handle data and security. Our guides to pricing pages AI can quote and comparison pages that get cited cover the format.
Add an author or company page that names real people and their roles. If you sell across Southeast Asia, make one page per country you serve instead of one page that lists them all.
What do Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT need from a Singapore site?
Singapore B2B pages need the same basics as anywhere: crawlable, indexed and quotable. Google lists no extra requirement for AI Overviews or AI Mode beyond snippet eligibility, and structured data should match the visible text 7.
For ChatGPT, allow OpenAI's OAI-SearchBot in robots.txt. OpenAI says opted-out sites are not shown in its answers, and a change can take about 24 hours 9. Check your own file with the AI Crawler Checker, and see how AI crawlers differ before you block any of them.
What do the PDPA, Do Not Call and advertising rules mean for your pages?
Treat every form, newsletter and call list as a personal-data process under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). It applies to organisations that handle personal data in Singapore whether or not they have a physical presence there 10. Appointing a data protection officer is mandatory, and the officer's business contact details must be public 10.
The Personal Data Protection Commission can fine up to 10% of annual Singapore turnover for organisations with turnover above SGD 10 million, or SGD 1 million otherwise 10. A breach that causes significant harm, or affects 500 or more people, must be reported to the Commission within three calendar days of assessment 10.
Marketing messages to Singapore phone numbers need clear and unambiguous consent that you can show later, or a check of the Do Not Call register first 11. The Spam Control Act 2007 covers bulk unsolicited email and SMS 10. For advertising claims, the Advertising Standards Authority of Singapore says advertisers must follow the Singapore Code of Advertising Practice 12. This page is not legal advice.
How does Singapore differ from the worldwide picture?
Singapore pairs very high AI use with a small, English-friendly market, so more brands are likely to compete for the same AI answer. With 64.3% of working-age residents already using generative AI, a brand that is missing from AI answers may never reach the shortlist, even before a click 3. Compare the UAE page, where English prompts also lead, and the Malaysia page, where Malay matters more.
The language question is simpler than in the Gulf or Indonesia, but trust questions are harder: buyers expect data-protection detail, named people and proof.
What has Chalk Labs actually done in Singapore?
Nothing we have published. Chalk Labs has no Singapore client case or result, and this page does not imply one. Our only published regional result is Meru Trophy, a trophy shop in Bengaluru, India, which reached 27,300 Google clicks and 2.3 million impressions in 16 months 13.
The Meru result is a local consumer shop in India. Singapore B2B buyers compare providers across several pages, so we would measure citations in the AI answers for your shortlist prompts, not clicks alone. We do not guarantee rankings or citations.
Where should you start this month?
Start with access and proof, publish five buyer-ready pages, then measure. One four-week loop is enough to learn what works.
- Week 1: confirm robots.txt allows OAI-SearchBot and Googlebot, and test your top pages on a phone.
- Week 2: make your company name, address, phone and a named data protection contact identical on your site and listings.
- Week 3: publish the five B2B pages by name: pricing, comparison, service scope, case study, and data and security. Open each with the answer in 40 to 75 words; the answer block checker tests that.
- Week 4: run ten shortlist prompts such as 'best accounting firm for a startup in Singapore', note the date, brands named and domains cited, and repeat monthly.
- Afterwards, use the Countries tab of Search Console's Performance report to see Singapore clicks 14, and ask each new lead how they found you.
Rules and platforms that shape results
Rules to know
- Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). Applies with or without a physical presence in Singapore. A data protection officer is mandatory. Fines up to 10% of Singapore turnover above SGD 10 million, or SGD 1 million. Breaches go to the Commission within three calendar days of assessment.10
- Do Not Call provisions and Spam Control Act 2007. Marketing to Singapore numbers needs clear, provable consent or a Do Not Call register check. Bulk unsolicited email and SMS fall under the Spam Control Act.11
- Singapore Code of Advertising Practice. Administered by the Advertising Standards Authority of Singapore, which handles advertising complaints. Check the code for your sector before publishing claims.12
Platforms that matter here
- Google Search, Google Maps and Google Business Profile
- ChatGPT search (reads sites through OAI-SearchBot)
- Google AI Overviews and AI Mode
- LinkedIn company and founder pages for B2B
- Review and comparison sites for your category
- Industry association and chamber directories
What works in Singapore
- Lead with English pages that state price ranges, scope, timeline and proof.
- Name the real people, roles and a data protection contact on an about page.
- Add Mandarin or Malay versions only for services with real demand, each on its own URL with hreflang.
- Match company name, address and phone across your site, Google Business Profile and directories.
- Write one page per country you serve if you sell across Southeast Asia, with local facts on each.
Mistakes to avoid
- Writing pages in Singlish, which most B2B buyers will not expect on a company site.
- Publishing vague 'contact us for a quote' pages that give an AI nothing to compare.
- Cold-messaging numbers without a consent record or a Do Not Call check.
- Copying one page across every Southeast Asian country with the name swapped.
- Hiding the data protection officer's contact details.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Mandarin pages to rank in AI search in Singapore?
Not by default. English is the most common home language at 48.3%, so English pages cover most buyers 5. Add Mandarin only where your own customers use it, give it a separate URL, and link versions with hreflang.
Is AI search use really that high in Singapore?
Microsoft's AI Economy Institute reports 64.3% of people aged 15 to 64 used a generative AI product by June 2026, second only to the UAE 3. That is Microsoft's estimate of any generative AI use, not a count of AI searches for local businesses.
Does the PDPA apply to my website's contact form?
Yes, if the form collects personal data in Singapore. The PDPA applies whether or not you have a physical presence, and you need a data protection officer with public contact details 10. Add a clear purpose notice and ask a qualified adviser about your case.
Can I message leads from a bought list in Singapore?
Be careful. Marketing to Singapore numbers needs clear, provable consent or a Do Not Call register check, and bulk unsolicited email falls under the Spam Control Act 11. Ask a Singapore lawyer before you send.
Does Chalk Labs work with Singapore companies?
We have no published Singapore results. The method is the same one behind our Meru Trophy result in Bengaluru, and we would show you a free proposal first so you can judge the plan.
